Chi q'aq'

Chi q'aq' is one of the six mountains created by Zipacna. Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: 96n171) translates the name "Chigag" as "Mouth Fire" (Chi'q'aq'), and says, "a volcano in the district of Sacatepequez, Guatemala, nineteen kilometers southeast of Antigua. It is better known by its Spanish name, Volcán de Fuego (Volcano of Fire)."
El lingüista k'iche' Sam Colop (2008: 46fn56) explica que Chi q'aq' "literalmente quiere decir 'donde hay fuego', es generalmente identificado como el volcán de Fuego."
