Q'inom

Q'inom (jocote) es un árbol frutal originario de las regiones tropicales de América Latina. Se conoce por su nombre científico Spondias purpurea.

Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: 194n466) notes that q'inom, Spondias purpurea, is a "species of sour yellow plum. Its Spanish name, jocote, is derived from the Nahuatl xocotl (sour)." Although Ximénez and Spanish-language translators like Adrián Recinos (1953) use the term jocote, the K'iche' authors of the Popol Wuj use a K'iche' term for the fruit.
