Ixb'aqiyalo

Ixb'aqiyalo ​ es la esposa de Jun Junajpu y la madre de Jun B'atz' y Jun Chuwen. El lingüista k'iche' Sam Colop (2008: 61fn72) observa que el nombre Ixb'aqiyalo  "se compone de los siguientes términos: Ix -- marcador femenino, baq, hueso, ya o ja', agua' y lo término dubitativo. Tedlock (1996: 250) traduce este término como 'Mujer Garza.'"

Ixb'aqiyalo is the wife of Jun Junajpu and mother of One Monkey (Jun B''atz' ) and One Artisan (Jun Chowen). Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: 113n226) interprets her name's "likely etymology" as "x- (lady), baqi (bone), ya' (water/river), lo (perhaps), yielding Lady Bone Water." He goes on to cite the work of anthropologist Dennis Tedlock (1996: 250n91), who notes that in Yucatec, "bak ha' (also “bone water”) is the snowy egret or snowy heron, and thus translates the name as 'Egret Woman.'”
