Tukur

Hay cuatro buhos que son los mensajeros de Xib'alb'a, específicamente los de los señores Jun Kame' y Wuqub' Kame'. Son destacados por su abilidad de cruzar los planos de la existencia humana y el inframundo. 

In the Popol Wuj, four owls (tukur) cross from Xib'alb'a to the human world to carry a message from Jun Kame' and Wuqub' Kame'. Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: n249) notes an important connection between the animals' role in the text and contemporary understandings of them. He writes: "Owls continue to be regarded as heralds of sickness and death by the Quichés, and they are extremely unwelcome anywhere near homes (Oakes 1951, 46; Bunzel 1952, 272, 343; Schultze-Jena 1954, 84; Watanabe 1992, 68)."
