Según apunta el lingüista k'iche' Sam Colop (2008: 216n395) el nombre del Ajaw Q'alel de la tercera generación del linaje Nija'ib' "deviene de, como hemos visto antes, k'o es 'noble', chajuj probablemente se origina de chaj 'ocote, pino' para indicar 'el que enciende'.
Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: 301n871) translates the name of the Ajaw Q'alel of the third generation of the Nija'ib' people, what he writes as K'o Chajuj, as "Lord Guardian."
